How Candy AI tokens work

You pay for Candy AI and you still see a token counter in the corner. That counter is the second currency of the app. Text is unlimited on a paid plan, but every picture, call, scene and new character is paid in tokens. One image costs 4 tokens, a call 3 tokens a minute, a new character 10. Premium puts 100 tokens on your balance each month, Premium Plus 330, and the free plan none at all.

Below you get the full price list, why the "2 tokens per image" figure you may have read does not match our balance, how many tokens each plan gives, the packs with their real price per 100 tokens, the add-on that undercuts them, and two monthly budgets worked out on 100 tokens. Prices come from the buttons, the Buy Tokens page and the subscriptions page of our paid Premium account, and from the actions we paid for ourselves.

The price list: what each action costs in tokens

The subscription unlocks features, and tokens meter each use of the ones that produce media. That keeps text free on paid plans and puts a price on every picture or minute of voice. Most prices are written on the button before you click, so you can always check; the table gathers what we read on the account.

Longer video generation also runs on tokens and is still marked beta. We have not paid for one, so we give no unit price. Creating a character is charged only on the last click, not while you go through the 14 screens.

4 tokens an image, not 2

Some pages that rank for this query say an image costs 2 tokens. On our account, every image button shows 4, in the chat and on the Generate Image page, and the balance drops by that amount. The only lower debit we saw came during a site-wide sale: the balance went from 289 to 285.6, so 3.4 for an image whose button still read 4. That also explains the decimals you may notice on the counter.

The safe rule is to read the button. If it says 4, plan on 4; a sale lowers the debit without changing the label.

How many tokens each plan gives you

The allowance is stated per month on every duration, yearly included, so a 12-month plan is 100 tokens a month, not a single large balance. On Premium, a dropdown on the plan card raises that allowance. The terms add one limit: subscription tokens must be used within the billing period and are neither carried over nor refunded once the subscription ends. Tokens you buy in packs stay until you spend them.

Packs: the price per 100 tokens falls from 9.99 to 4.36

The Buy Tokens page sells six fixed packs and a slider. Bigger packs carry a bonus that is already counted in the token figure, so the price per 100 tokens goes down as the pack grows. The drop is small until the slider: from 9.99 to 8.00 across the six packs.

The add-on is cheaper than every fixed pack

The add-on is sold with the subscription, so it costs less per token than anything on the Buy Tokens page except the top of the slider. Raising Premium from 100 to 200 tokens a month costs 6; raising it to 300 costs 12. Both work out at 6 per 100 extra tokens, against 9.99 for the smallest pack, which is what the "save 40%" label on the dropdown refers to.

The catch is that add-on tokens are subscription tokens: they arrive monthly and end with the plan, where pack tokens stay. If your use is regular, the add-on wins. If you buy tokens a few times a year, a pack you keep is the better fit. Premium Plus members on yearly or quarterly billing get 10% more tokens on every purchase.

Free tokens: what exists and what does not

There is no daily or monthly free allowance. The free plan has no token balance, only one free image and five messages, as our free plan page details. Tokens come from three places: the subscription, the add-on and the packs.

The one small credit we found is in the settings: adding a backup payment card credits 10 tokens. That is enough for two images and a half, and it happens once. Pages promising token generators or unlimited tokens are not connected to the app in any way; nothing typed into them reaches your Candy AI balance.

Two months on 100 tokens: a quiet one and a busy one

Prices only make sense against real use, so here are two months on Premium with its 100 tokens. Text is free in both.

The quiet month fits in the allowance. The busy month needs 94 more tokens: a 100 pack at 9.99 covers it once, but if every month looks like that, the 200-token add-on at 6 a month does the same job for less. Live action skips are covered in the live actions guide, calls in the voice calls guide.

Where a balance drains without a click

Most unexpected spending comes from settings and habits, not from the price of a single action. Check these before you blame the counter.

• Media frequency. In the chat settings, a character can send pictures on her own. Keep it low if you want to decide every image.
• Scene videos. 12 tokens for 5 seconds; three a week add up to more than the 100 of Premium.
• Gifts. They move the relationship bar and nothing else; 999 for the biggest one.
• Level skips. Live action levels also rise for free as you chat; skipping is the paid shortcut.
• Auto Top-Up. A block in the settings can buy tokens when you run out. Switch it off for a fixed budget.
• Private packs. 70 to 530 tokens each; the packs guide explains what you get.
